Bloom Peace Education Fund

The Bloom Peace Education Fund supports and advances the mission of Oxford Citizens OCPJ and the Peace and Justice Resource Center.  We welcome any donations to this fund, in memory or honor of a loved one, an inspiring peace and justice activist, or just because peace and justice are important.  You can donate by clicking the green Contribute button in the right margin or the Donate button below.

History and Purpose of the Fund

In 1985, Oxford resident and peace and justice activist Mel Bloom set up a fund to advance the work of Oxford Citizens for Peace and Justice (OCPJ) in memory of his wife Rosie. When Mel passed away in 1990, the modest funds remaining became the nucleus of the Bloom Peace Education Fund in commemoration of Mel and Rosie’s dedication to the advancement of peace and justice causes in Oxford and beyond.   Today, with ongoing contributions and other gifts in memory of friends and loved ones committed to OCPJ’s continuing work, the fund also commemorates and honors other dedicated citizens.  These include:

Supporting Others

We rely on students, our members, and others to help us educate the local community on peace and justice issues, projects, or actions taking place in, or originating in the Oxford/Miami University area.  Some years we have helped sponsor special presentations from activists, workshops, movies, travel, or other group events that advance our mission to “educate and act locally to organize a citizen’s movement with the sustained political power and understanding to construct a world of peace with social, economic, and environmental justice.”

If you have a project or educational/activist opportunity that you would like to participate in and be willing to share your knowledge/project with our members and the local community, we may be able to help out.  Submit a request to the Bloom Education Fund:
